Our history and heritage – More than 60 years of OMV

OMV traces its origins back to period of the Austrian State Treaty of 1955, which re-established the country’s independence. Established in 1956, Österreichische Mineralölverwaltung Aktiengesellschaft, later known simply as OMV, took on responsibility for the nation's oil and gas activities, including production, processing, and distribution.
